One of the things that always takes a while for me when I post a new picture on Instagram about a new city is researching the best hashtags for Instagram.
And the reason is, that you simply don’t want to use #london when you are looking for London hashtags. Why? Because your post will be buried so quickly because the hashtag is way too big and used by everyone! You want to find smaller hashtags that actually give you a chance to rank and get impressions and likes from hashtags. This way, your content will be seen by many people that do not (yet) follow you.
The really cool is, that if you do it right – you can actually get a lot of new followers from that! And your content might even be shared by the accounts that invented the hashtag – giving your Instagram post an even bigger reach.

But now let’s get straight to the content: I collected hashtags for all those cities when I posted content from there and hope that these lists will help you find the best Instagram hashtags for likes much easier when you are traveling there! And I will keep updating and adding cities to this list – there is simply too much of bad hashtag lists out there!

You better take advantage of Barcelona hashtags – those pictures gave me the biggest number of new followers – and they got reshared by Barcelona Instagram accounts. Barcelona is an Instagrammers darling and thus, you definitely want to show your Instagram shots to the crowd!

Surprisingly, Budapest hashtags are pretty low in numbers and competition (except for #budapest). This makes them a great start to target new audiences. Indeed, the Budapest hashtags are so small that it even makes sense to use Hungary hashtags on top!

London is pretty famous on Instagram – thus a lot of the London hastags are rather big and you might want to look for some smaller ones instead. Thus, my London hashtag list does not contain stuff like #london or #uk – just skip those unless you already have 500k followers…!
