In April 2019 I stayed for one night at the Hilton London Hyde Park during my short trip to London.

The Location of Hilton Hyde Park
One of the reasons why I was delighted to not only stay at Hilton but specifically at Hilton London Hyde Park was the location.
It’s actually next to the Kensington Gardens (and not Hyde Park directly) with the Kensington Palace. We had a beautiful outlook over this green paradise from our room window too. There’s a lot of things to do in the neighborhood of Kensington – so you will love this location!
Also, the subway station Queensway of the Central Line is directly under the hotel – making many prime sightseeing locations available to you within minutes from your hotel. Even though it’s essentially across the inner city, it took us only 20 minutes to reach Tower Bridge for example.
Both big hop on hop off services stop directly in front of the hotel as well and so do the iconic red double-decker public busses.
I also liked the neighbourhood around – there is an abundance of restaurants that are surprisingly well priced if you are looking for a simple dinner (think 10-15 Pound)
The Lobby / Hotel Grounds
When you enter, you are directly inside the lobby with two counters and the elevator going to the rooms. There is also a small seating area in case you have to wait for check-in.
The restaurant and the bar are also located at ground level – this is where breakfast is served too.
Hilton Hyde Parks Rooms
We stayed in a standard room on the 4th floor overlooking Kensington Garden. As the Hilton Hyde Park is located in a history Edwardian townhouse, you will have one of these beautiful cornered windows too which made the right very bright and welcoming.
The standard room itself is rather small – however perfectly fine for staying in a city which such high rental prices. I have seen hotel rooms in London or Paris that felt smaller than my guest toilet – and this is definitely not the case here.
Same goes for the bathroom – it was rather small, but not too much. I was pleasantly surprised by the shower size that almost made up for half the room. I simply love to have some room while showering and thus, this was much to my taste.
I absolutely loved the bed as it was super comfortable. Hilton generally uses high quality mattresses but I felt like Hilton Hyde Park had some particularly comfortable ones. Also, I liked the style of the room. It was still classic with darker wood elements but paired with a light room and modern elements like the cozy purple armchair.
The In-Room Amenities
What I really loved was that we were greeted with a chocolate tarte from their restaurant and a bottle of Merlot! That’s really rare and I absolutely loved it! If you don’t have this in your room – make sure to try one in the restaurant – they are insanely delicious!!!
The bathroom amenities contained all the expected stuff – shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and shower cap. There was even some facial soap that I really liked from the smell. You will find two plushy bathrobes in your closet – I directly changed into one after checking in in the afternoon 😀
There is also complimentary water for you – sometimes you might have to look in the fridge to find it 🙂
The Breakfast at Hilton Hyde Park
If you follow me on Instagram, you know how important food to me. And breakfast is the holy grail of food for me – so I greatly care about the breakfast buffet when staying in a nice hotel like Hilton London Hyde Park.
The breakfast is located at ground floor in the restaurant. It is focused on English breakfast (Ham, eggs, baked beans, hash browns, tomatoes, bacon, sausages) but has some continental items as well (good bread selection, croissants, jam and chocolate spread, cheese and ham). There is a coffee machine, a tea bar and fresh fruit juice as well. There was no egg station or pancakes if this is important to you.
While I absolutely think the selection is fine and very tasty, there was one thing that was a problem for Markus and me: It was really cold in the breakfast room.
We tend to freeze easily but we guess that the door to outside must have been open when we visited as we could not identify any AC for the issue. We asked to sit outside in the room in front of the actually breakfast room then. This was accepted without any problems and there, we little warmbloods enjoyed our breakfast 😊
The Staff of Hilton Hyde Park
One thing I really want to emphasize was the outstanding service at Hilton Hyde Park! We arrived really early in the morning (around 10am), so the room was not ready yet. The reception staff offered to give us a call immediately when the room would be ready which we gladly accepted.
When we checked into the room in the afternoon, they had already brought our luggage to the room and gave us a call after a few minutes to check if the room is fine and asked if we need any further assistance.
Also, when we asked for recommendations for nice sunset spots, we were immediately presented with some ideas. The next day, one of the employees even remembered and asked if we enjoyed the sunset and our dinner at Sky Garden!
It’s those little details that really make a difference for me! I can only give Hilton Hyde Park a 10/10 for service quality!
Wrap up - My personal verdict on Hilton Hyde Park
As you probably already noticed, I did enjoy my stay at Hilton Hyde Park.
There were only very few things that I missed – liked a spa or a fitness center. Or okay, to be honest – only the spa. I am not a fitness person, even though I sometimes pretend to be. 😊 I also love it, if there is free water and a coffee machine in the room, but this is by far no dealbreaker to me.
If you look for a beautiful hotel that is very well connected to major sights and still gives you the feeling of being in a cute, calm, green part of this metropolis – then Hilton Hyde Park is definitely a really good choice!
