Find the 30 best instagrammable places in Barcelona - complete guide to insta-worthy shots with map!

Barcelona is definitely one of the most instagrammable cities in Europe. I usually don’t promote going to capitals on my blog because I feel like everyone does it – but as an Instagram fan, you can’t neglect Barcelona when traveling to Europe.

Thanks to Gaudí Barcelona is full of insta-worthy places and even a weekend can be enough to get awesome content for a whole month of awesome Instagram photos.

And in case you want to go to a lesser known place – why not checking out Valencia? – It’s only 4 hours a way and offers a tranquil escape from Barcelona. And if you are looking for a beach getaway – Malaga’s beaches are really amazing too!

But back to hustling, bustling Barcelona: When I visited Barcelona in February 2019, I did some research before and then went to snap my shots. However, I didn’t manage to visit all places myself as some require early ticket booking (like Casa Mila, Casa Battlo and the infamous Sagrada Familia). I will definitely go back and shoot more another time. In the meanwhile, I marked all my favorite instagrammables places in Barcelona in the map below and also added some other girls Instagram photos 🙂

Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Familia is probably the most famous of Gaudís buildings in Barcelona and looks like almost as if the master knew Instagram would come along in the 21st century and that we would flock to his project to take our best insta-worthy shots there.

If you plan to visit the Sagrada Familia, go early. Grab the first entry slot (9am) and then be quick to snap your shots before it gets too crowded. You need to book tickets several days in advance!

If you fail to buy a ticket – don’t fret: there is a lovely Instagram spot on the outside in the park and a secret tip too: If you go up to Ayre Hotel Rosellon (just ask at the reception, buy a drink at the bar and they are fine with it) – they have a stunning view from the rooftop!

Cathedral de Barcelona

No, the Cathedral of Barcelona is NOT the Sagrada Familia. It’s actually another building right in the highly insta-worthy gothic quarter of Barcelona!

And while it already looks stunning from the outside (I also marked one particular street with an awesome view!) you can go on its rooftop for just 3€. How cool ist that?! If you come in the afternoon, it’s 7€ because then you have to pay entrance to the church too. Compared to Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila and Casa Battlo this is still a real bargain.

And the view is just stunning – not only for instag-worthy shots! In the list of instagrammable places in Barcelona this is a close call between my favorites!

Parc Guell (Gaudi Park)

Parc Guell is in the north of Barcelona and contains numerous buildings by Gaudí. It’s full of instagrammable places – but you will have to fight with many others for the spots.

Best time to go is in the late afternoon for sunset – or very early in the morning. In fact, if you come really early, entrance is even for free! Check the official opening times and just arrive one hour earlier – insta-worthy shot for free!

Casa Mila (La Pedrera)

Next up, another building by Gaudí! Gaudí has even lived in this building for quite a while – and now it is the second most known building of him – just surpassed by the Sagrada Familia.

The rooftop of Casa Mila is particularly insta-worthy. Make sure to buy tickets online in advance for sunset pictures.

Casa Battlo

Well, let’s all guess who might have built Casa Battlo….Yeeeeeees, we have Gaudí again. However, the artist simply doesn’t get boring and Casa Battlo also offers amazing insta-worthy perspectives.

Buy the ticket in advance online.

The Inside

Casa Vicens

This was actually one of the first works of…Gaudí!. Somehow, almost no one knows about this place and it can in fact only be visited since 2017. It’s a bit different from the organic forms of Casa Mila or Sagrada Familia – but nevertheless highly instagrammable!

Arc de Triomf

The french are not the only ones with a triumpf arc – in fact, a lot of cities have them. The one from Barcelona is particularly insta-worthy – and it is close to Parque de la Ciutadella.

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BuCMhzTlLhK/ hidecaption=true]

Parque de La ciutadella

Parque de la ciutadella is a great place to relax after walking through the city. The park is really big and has many grassy areas for picnic. I totally loved the atmosphere – and it’s really easy to snap a nice insta-worthy shot here too!

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BuHhocAlnPU/ hidecaption=true]

Bunkers del Carmel

The best time to go here is near sunset. You can snap an awesome insta-worthy photo here overlooking the city of Barcelona from this little spot. If you go, bring some picnic and enjoy the sunset afterwards!

You could also combine this photo spot with a day trip from Barcelona (e.g. to Montserrat!)

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BuMfD0SFhcW/ hidecaption=true]

Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau

This UNESCO World Heritage site has some really nice instagrammable places – inside and outside. Check by in the afternoon for best light!

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BuJyTQblqB6/ hidecaption=true]

Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau

This is not a hospital anymore, don’t worry. It’s really close to the Recinte, so do both spots in one trip to the north of Barcelona. Afterwards, you could go for a walk to Parc Guell – or head towards Sagrada Familia.

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/Bby4OK-gopb/ hidecaption=true]

Palace of Catalan Music

The Palace of Catalan Music is another UNESCO World Heritage site in Barcelona and it looks absolutely stunning! You can visit the inside with a guided tour and snap some awesome insta-worthy shots here.

If you don’t have the time – entrance to the foyer is free and already looks pretty nice too!

Font Magica

For sightseeing, the best time to visit is in the evening when there is a beautiful light and water show here for free. For Instagram shots on the other hand, come earlier for a better light. How about having some snacks afterwards and then watching the light/water show?

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu3mNZrnANa/ hidecaption=true]

Pont Bisbe (Barri Gotic)

Essentially the whole Gothic quarter is one giant Instagram photo spot. However, the best one is just at the exit of the Cathedral de Barcelona (see above) and is called Pont Bisbe. It might take a while until not too many people block your perfect Instagram picture – but this one is not to miss!

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt6eo80l-Hd/ hidecaption=true]

Barri Gracia (Orange Tree Street)

The Gracia quarter is somehow not recognized a lot on Instagram yet. This neighborhood really feels very genuine and totally Mediterranean.

If you walk around (or check my map) you will come across this beautiful little street full of orange trees. There is also a tiny cafe serving really good coffee! 🙂

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu4iCxRF17L/ hidecaption=true]

Barceloneta beach

Barcelona has a gorgeous beach right at its neighborhood Barceloneta (which is, by the way, also insta-worthy). It is hard to call one spot the most instagrammable place – but most pictures show the W hotels at the very end of the beach. Sometimes, these pics remind me a bit of Dubai though 🙂

Lot’s of people also take a picture with a statue called L’estel ferrit (marked on the map as well).

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BkC_QSsH_0k/ hidecaption=true]

Palau Guell

And you though by now you would be finished with Gaudí buildings. You’re not. Palau Guell is one of the lesser known buildings by the Barcelona architect – but it really has an instagrammable rooftop as well.

As this is close to Las Ramblas, it’s really easy to stop by here and take some awesome insta-worthy shots.

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BuUDq_3FFsq/ hidecaption=true]

Placa de Catalunya

Somehow there is not so many pictures tagged with Placa de Catalunya. However the fountain in the middle is definitely instaworthy – and actually this is the beginning of Las Ramblas. Don’t miss this one on your Instagram trip to Barcelona!

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BqsP_ixhDvP/ hidecaption=true]

Tibidao

Seeing Tibidao the first time, I thought this must be rendered from some computer game. It was not. This fairytale version of a church can be found in the north of Barcelona in a park called “Tibidao”. It was closed when we visited – so this is on my list of instagrammables places in Barcelona to visit next time!
