We are Sarah and Markus – and we are glad that you are here and that you are interested in our journey and our luxury travel experiences around the world! Together, we have been to over 55 countries so far and we plan to bring that number to 100 one day.
While Sarah is obviously the “frontwoman” behind this blog and its social media channels, we run this blog together. Markus is not “only” taking most of the pictures for the blog, he also writes articles and we jointly developed the design of the blog.
We see “Fernwehsarah” as a “smart luxury blog”. We want to show you how to travel the world in style – and how to do this in a smart way. For us, that means spending money on the stuff that really matters – everything that creates unique memories.
This can be an amazing luxury hotel, an all-inclusive cruise, a first-class flight – or just a simple food tour with a local.
We don’t want to limit us (or you) to anything. We will still happily take a bus if we think a taxi is overpriced – and we encourage you to do the same. But we don’t sleep in hostels anymore – we simply like a clean bath and some privacy.
“Smart luxury travel” is our little secret to traveling the world in style and still being able to afford it at a relatively young (ahem…both turned 30 already…) age. 🙂
Btw. did you know that “Fernweh” is a German word? It essentially describes the inner urge to travel to a far-away destination – basically the opposite of being “homesick”. Not many languages actually have a word for that – but German does.
And even though we both mostly write in English, German is actually our native tongue and we are both living in our own beautiful flat in Berlin (…or at least when we are not off to somewhere exotic!)
