After spending two wonderful nights at Padma Resort Legian, we took Padma’s private transport and spent our last two nights in Bali at the beautiful Padma Resort Ubud.
Padma Resort Ubud is located 45 minutes north of Ubud by car – and it’s in the middle of the green Bali jungle. The resort focused a lot on health, wellness, and yoga – and it has one of the most amazing infinity pools in Bali!
And of course, we took the time to thoroughly review the resort for you – including participating in various different activities offer by Padma Resort Ubud. Plus, we added a 3D tour of our room again so that you can easily decide if this is the best resort for your Bali trip!

About Padma Resorts in Bali
Padma Hotels operate four different properties in Indonesia, two of them being Padma Resorts in Bali – Padma Resort Legian and Padma Resort Ubud.
We stayed at both their properties in Bali as Padma also offers a holiday package with three nights in Padma Resort Legian and three nights in Padma Resort Ubud, including transportation between the two luxury resorts.
Location of Padma Resort Ubud
As always, we have marked down the hotel and the surrounding areas on a customized Google Map to make it extra easy for you to navigate and understand where the hotel is located.
Click and zoom in as you would always do with Google Maps!
As mentioned before, Padma Resort Ubud is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere. It takes about 45 minutes from Ubud Center to get here and slightly less than two hours from Denpasar Airport.
Padma Resort Ubud operates a free shuttle to and from Ubud center a few times a day though!
Check-in at Padma Resort Ubud
We were friendly greeted by the staff of Padma Resort Ubud once we arrived with the transfer provided by Padma Resorts.
Our check-in agent explained everything to us, including the available activities and when they need to be booked. Markus directly decided to go for a music lesson and we signed up for sunrise yoga the next day.
We were then shown to our room – and we were really impressed by the stunning hotel grounds of Padma Resort Ubud!

Our room at Padma Resort Ubud
We stayed at a Premier (Deluxe) Room with a balcony overlooking the green jungle. Each room is really spacious (59 sqm) and comes with a big balcony!
We couldn’t really figure out any difference between “Premier Room” and “Premier Deluxe Room” – even the “cheapest room” at Padma Resort Ubud is pretty luxurious already!

The bathroom is connected with both your hallway as well as the bedroom and it opens via a chic sliding door. We also liked that the bathroom has both a free-standing bathtub as well as a large rainforest shower.

One of the super cute details that we fell in love with was the elaborate decoration they had places on our bed upon arrival. This certainly yells “Couple retreat” and “Honeymoon” to us!

Even though we liked our room a lot, next time we would probably book a one-bedroom suite though for two reasons:
First, the one-bedroom suite cames with club access. We only saw the club from the outside, but according to the website, it comes with complimentary afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Whenever we stay at Marriott properties, we have access to the club lounge as Markus is a Platinum Elite member of Marriott Bonvoy and we LOVE club lounges!
Second, the one-bedroom suites of Padma Resort Ubud are the only place where you can have a flower bath! We had seen pictures of that before on Instagram and were a bit sad when the spa staff told us that these are in the private jacuzzis of the one-bedroom suites only. Well, next time! 🙂
See our room in 3D!
Pictures don’t do hotel rooms justice all the time? Well, then we have something really cool for you!
We partnered up with Wolowo – an online tour creator that makes it possible to create 3D Tour that you can navigate around. There are even additional pictures and info spots that you can click.
To move around, simply drag the image – and click the hotspot (the white dot with the black border and the arrow) to move to another room/panorama!
We create these types of tours for hotels together with our partners from Wolowo. Please get in touch with me ([email protected]) if you are interested in something like this as well!
Facilities at Padma Resort Ubud
The hotel ground of Padma Resort Ubud are huge – and thus, they offer a lot of facilities and activities here!

The Swimming Pool
Oh, the pool…where do we start here…?
Let’s try it this way: it is GORGEOUS! The pool stretches along the complete front of the building and it’s huge. And gorgeous. It’s an infinity pool overlooking the lush green jungle and it’s beautifully curved. Did I mention that it is gorgeous?! 😀

We definitely enjoyed lounging and playing around in that pool. There’s a pool bar at one end and a little waterfall at the other end.
And guess what – the pool photographs really well too! 😉

And then, there’s a second smaller pool on a lower level (that’s where the waterfall ends!). The second pool is sometimes closed when other guests booked it for floating food (see below our “Food”) or a romantic dinner.
The Spa
Padma Resort Ubud also has a stunning looking spa with various treatment rooms.
We did not have the time to try out some spa treatments this time, but we certainly thought that this spa looked top-notch. And after all, Bali is TOTALLY about wellness! 🙂
The Forest walk (+bamboo forest)
Padma Resort Ubud is HUGE! And since it is located in the middle of the jungle, they built a beautiful forest walk, including a bamboo forest.

It is marked as a jogging path – but given the high temperatures and humidity in Bali, we didn’t exactly feel like jogging :D. Also, the path is located on a hill – which is probably not ideal for jogging. But it was beautiful for a leisurely afternoon stroll!
Activities at Padma Resort Ubud
There are a ton of activities offered by Padma Resort Ubud, starting from daily yoga classes (four times a day!), going to garden tours, animal tours – all the way to archery lessons and music instrument lessons!

And these were only the FREE activities that you can do at Padma Resort Ubud! Padma can also help you organize various day tours to surrounding attractions (like e.g. Tegallalang Rice Fields). And then there’s the spa and stuff like floating afternoon tea (see below under Food!).
Even though Padma Resort Ubud is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere, you can easily spend a week here before even thinking about what to do!

Yoga Classes
Padma Resort Ubud offers four free Yoga classes every day – Sunrise Yoga (7 am), Morning Yoga (8 am), Aerial Yoga and Sunset Yoga.
We first joined the Sunrise Yoga session which is held at a really cool “nest-like” structure overlooking the jungle of Ubud.

I really liked the lesson a lot – the trainer also took care that everyone does the movements correctly and asked before the session if anyone has specific health issues.
Plus, the “Nest” makes a spot for taking great Yoga pictures! 🙂

On our second morning, we joined the Aerial Yoga Class.
We had never done Aerial Yoga before, but it was definitely an interesting experience! I really liked the new moves, but hanging upside down a lot gave me quite some headaches.

Markus wasn’t really a fan of the Aerial Yoga as he felt the movements are not as natural as “normal” Yoga. I do partially agree – but it was for sure a really cool option to try this very different Yoga version for free!

Archery lessons
One of the things I really loved trying out at Padma Resort Ubud was the archery lesson. I never tried archery before, and the trainer was really patient to explain everything to me and Markus (and the other four participants).
I was also impressed by the high safety standards they set and how much the trainer took care of that everyone was always careful with the bow!

Food at Padma Resort Ubud
As Padma Resort Ubud is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere, chances are, that you will take almost all of your meals at the resort.
This makes it especially important that the quality of the food is good. And it was – the kitchen did not disappoint us at all!
However, we felt that the prices for food were rather high, not only for Bali – but also for a resort in Bali. We were surprised that prices were significantly higher than at Padma Resort Legian – and it might have to do with you not really having another option.
Thus, it is probably a really good idea if you book with half-board if possible – it will just stop you from thinking about prices when you are on holiday! 🙂
Breakfast buffet
Breakfast was served at the main restaurant on the fourth floor in the main building.
We really liked the breakfast buffet as there were numerous European, American and Asian food options available, including some Indian food and Pancakes.

Floating Afternoon Tea
I don’t know if there is anything more “I-am-in-a-hotel-in-Bali”-thing than having a floating breakfast or afternoon tea!
And since we already had breakfast at the hotel buffet, we loved the option of having afternoon tea in the pool instead!

You have to book the afternoon tea in advance and you can select various items from an order form for your afternoon tea or breakfast.
The whole “event” will take place at the small lower pool – and they will block it off for you entirely! This means that you can really enjoy this floating meal without having to worry about other guests splashing around!

The food quality was really good – and the amount was just too much for us. So don’t worry about staying hungry – and definitely skip lunch before! In our eyes, this is a “Bali must do”!
The only thing that was a bit weird for us, was the consistent attention of staff. We know this was probably just meant to be high service level – but we kinda felt controlled during our afternoon tea by constantly having a member of staff standing on our stairs.
On the other hand, the staff members were incredibly helpful in getting “those Instagram shots” – he even stepped on the pool border to get the best angle (glad he didn’t fall into the pool!)!
Wrap up: Our final verdict at Padma Resort Ubud
Time to wrap us this review of Padma Resort Ubud! Did we like staying here? Yes, FOR SURE!
And is it the right thing for you? Well, that depends on what you are looking for. If you want to find a serene place to spend your honeymoon or do a couple retreat, then definitely!
If you came to Bali to party and to explore lots of new places every day, then probably not! Padma Resort Ubud is definitely “off the beaten track” and it is not located anywhere close to local living. In this case, you might have a look at Padma Resort Legian though – Legian is definitely close to a party atmosphere!
Padma Resort Ubud is extremely focus on providing that “Wellness-Health-Luxury-Spa-Retreat” vibe – and they are really good at that. So if that’s up to your sleeve – then we have no doubt, that you will love staying here!
