After visiting Nusa Lembongan, Markus and I returned to “mainland” Bali, where we headed to the West Coast this time. As we felt that Kuta is more for the backpacker party type, we headed north to Legian where we stayed at the beautiful Padma Resort Legian for two nights.
And of course, we will tell you everything you need to know about this luxury beach hotel in Legian!

About Padma Resorts in Bali
Padma Hotels operate four different properties in Indonesia, two of them being Padma Resorts in Bali – Padma Resort Legian and Padma Resort Ubud.
We stayed at both their properties as they also offer a holiday package with three nights in Padma Resort Legian and three nights in Padma Resort Ubud, including transportation between the two luxury resorts.
Location of Padma Resort Legian

Padma Resort Legian is located right at the famous white Legian beach. Legian beach is located north of Kuta beach and south of Seminyak.
It is only a short taxi ride (~20 minutes) away from Denpasar Airport, which makes it really convenient to reach. And the resort is surrounded by a lot of hotels and shops. For us, this is clearly a plus as we like to have a lot of options.
Check-in at Padma Resort Legian
The first thing we saw when arriving with our transport at Padma Resort Legian was the lobby. And it was huge! I instantly liked the design and it reminded me of some other tropical luxury hotels that I had previously visited (especially of Natai Beach Resort in Thailand and Le Meridien in Mauritius).
Markus took care of most of the check-in while I was doing photos. We were offered refreshment towels and drinks upon arrival and quickly escorted to our room then!
Our room at Padma Resort Legian
We stayed in a room type called “New Deluxe Chalet” which is larger than the “standard” deluxe room. It came with a spacious double-bed and a sofa as well as a balcony overlooking the garden.
Next to our bedroom was a large open-style wardrobe which a big mirror (big plus for me!). One side was leading to the bedroom and the other to the bathroom (more in the 3D tour)
What we really liked was that our room had both a huge shower (that’s Markus most important thing) and a free-standing bathtub (which scores points with me!). We also really liked the bright and modern design of the bathroom a lot.

Pictures don’t do hotel rooms justice all the time? Well, then we have something new for you!

In-Room Amenities
As you know, I always care for the amenities a hotel provides. And Padma Resort Legian left me with nothing to complain about. The bathroom amenities included “the usual suspects” (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, etc.) but they were really large in size.
Also, the room come with a complimentary bowl of fruits as well as an espresso maschine, a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee.
One thing that we found to be a bit odd was that the mini bar was empty. I am sure it would have been stocked on request but I anyway prefer to have a full mini bar, giving me the opportunity to take something at any time.
However, two big bottles of water are provided complimentary, which is really good. And when they noticed we finished the two bottles the first day, we got three the next day without asking. That’s mindful service!
Facilities at Padma Resort Legian
If you are booking a resort holiday, chances are that you intend to stay a lot at the hotel, so the hotel facilities matter more than they would do when doing a city trip.
As Legian Beach is a public beach, Padma Resort Legian does not own a private part of the beach. They “make up” for this with having a huge array of swimming pools and extensive (and beautiful!) gardens.
The Swimming Pools
Actually, there is not one swimming pool at Padma Resort Legian but FIVE pools. And some of them are HUGE! So let’s have a quick look what what we have:
- The Lagoon Pool (spoiler alert: our favorite!)
- The “Main Pool”
- A family pool (next to the lagoon pool)
- A beach facing adults-only infinity pool
- A smaller infinity pool at SKAI Beach Club (part of the hotel)
As spoilered, we loved the Lagoon Pool most. It is located further away from the beach and has a stunning design with numerous waterfalls.
And it’s HUGE! I think, this might actually have been the biggest pool I have been to so far! It streches all along the hotel because there are Lagoon Rooms with direct pool entrance (SO gonna get one of these next time!)
We also really liked the little infinity pool at SKAI Bar because it was so perfect to watch the sunset while sipping drinks!
We did also go to the bigger “adults-only” infinity pool the first evening and it also offered great sunset views plus a swim-up bar.
Unfortunately there were some groups of rather drunk guests that misbehaved in my opinion. I know this is not Padma’s fault, but it did not make me feel like this is my favorite spot in the resort. I definitely enjoy good drinks – but I do not overdo it like these people. Not at home and especially not abroad.
The Spa
One of the highlights of our stay at Padma Resort Legian was my spa treatment! Padma’s spa is located close to the lobby and it is absolutely beautiful!
I got a one-hour Balinese massage (heaven! 100% recommended – Bali is known for massages and Padma Resort Legian only hires really talented staff!). My massage was followed by a flower bath in the treatment room.
I definitely enjoyed the bath a lot too. Given that Bali is known on Instagram for opulent flower baths, this might still be a little area of improvement as there were only a few rose petals on my bath and certainly not something covering and overly complex like I had already seen it. 🙂
SKAI Beach Club
Padma Resort Legian has a dedicated beach club called SKAI beach club. It is located directly at Legian beach (just separated from it by a little road) and it is also open to outside guests.
They have a beautiful little infinity pool – and the biggest Margharita I have ever seen! (Definitly plan on sharing the “Giant Margharita” – this is easily four normal Margharitas, if not more!)
The Beach (Legian Beach)
I just wanted to mention this briefly again to make sure you are not mislead by me. Padma Resort Legian is directly at Legian beach – but it is separated from the beach by a small road and it does not have a private beach facility.
Thus, Padma Resort Legian does not have any beach chairs or loungers on the beach – these belong to local vendors expecting you to pay for them or at least order drinks with them. Also, you will need to watch your valuables when you are at the beach.
It did not matter to us at all as we actually prefer swimming pools over salt water – but I wanted to be absolutely clear on this point. In fact, we only went down to the beach for some brief minutes to take a video and then went back to Padma Resort Legian!
Activities at Padma Resort Legian
Padma Resort Legian offers a bunch of activities for both children as well as adults. Most of these are for free and you don’t have to do any booking in advance.
We participated at a morning Yoga session near the infinity pool and found the quality of it to be really good. I would have preferred the lesson to start earlier in the morning (it was 8-9 am), but that’s my personal preference due to the heat in Bali.
The Food at Padma Resort Legian
So let’s dive right into one of my favorite topics: Food.
We did have breakfast at Padma Resort Legian on both days and we opted to also have dinner at their restaurant and in-room service the other night, so we got some info for you here!
Breakfast (Donbiu or SKAI)
For breakfast, we can choose between Donbiu Restaurant (main restaurant) or SKAI bar.
We tried both and we were definitely big fans of Donbiu. There was a huge selection of food, including continental, american, asian, indian, japanese and indonesian items.
They also had three live cooking stations – one for eggs, one for noodles and one for pancakes/waffles/crepes.
Also worth noting is that there was a nice selection of healthy food (juices, fruits and musli) as well as a broad range of gluten-free options.
Markus and I both have no problem with gluten intolerance but we know this might be important for some of you and Padma Resort Legian really stood out in this with their selection!
Pool Bar Snacks
As mentioned, we spent some considerable time at the pools of Padma Resort Legian and thus, we also ordered food from the pool bar at our favorite pool, the Lagoon Pool.
And the Smoothie Bowl we got was not only a bargain (it was around 5$) – it was also the prettiest smoothie bowl I had ever ordered!
Dinner (Teppanyaki Buffet)
On our first evening, we decided to eat at the Japanese Theme Buffet and we really liked it. It wasn’t cheap (especially given that Padma Resort Legian is surrounded by restaurants) but we really liked the food.
In-Room Dining
On our last evening at Padma Resort Legian, we had some snacks at SKAI Bar so we first didn’t feel hungry anymore. But, of course, hunger hit us later the evening and so we decided to order room service.
And we were both pleasantly surprised by both the speed as well as the quality of the food. Frankly, I did not expect Italian pasta to be good when ordering it as room service in Bali – but it was!
Wrap up - our final verdict on Padma Resort Legian!
So, let’s have a final look on what we think about Padma Resort Legian in this review!
We definitely liked staying here a lot and we would certainly come back! Next time, we would opt for a Lagoon room for sure to always have quick entry to our beloved Lagoon Pool. This resort also is really family-friendly and seems like a great option for groups of friends as well.
If having a private beach facility is crucial to you however, Padma Resort Legian is probably not your place. And it definitely still has some of the party vibe from Kuta. If total serenity and ultra-romance is your prime motivation to come to Bali, then you should definitely check out Padma Resort Ubud instead in our opinion!
But if you are looking for a beautiful resort with beach access and multiple pools that is close to the party scene – then Padma Resort Legian is exactly what you are looking for!
