If you are looking for a luxury Nusa Lembongan Hotel, then we have found something for you: The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan!
Markus and I had visited Nusa Lembongan in 2013 for the first time. At that time, the island was pretty sleepy and accommodation options were rather basic. When we came back now in December 2019, we stayed for two nights at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan before we went back to Bali to stay at Padma Resort Legian.
And of course, we checked everything for you as we always do with our hotel reviews!

The location of The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan
The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan is strategically located at Jungut Batu Beach on the hillside of Nusa Lembongan. This makes it really easy to get to and from the resort as most fast boats land on that beach.
We actually had transport included with the fast boat ferry company “D’Camel” (recommended by The Tamarind Resort Reception) but chose to walk since it is only 400 meters. Don’t do that as it is hot and the road is really bad to walk with suitcases. 😀
Just tell the resort and they will happily pick you up at the Harbor directly with a golf car! I think we really shocked them by walking 😀
Check-In at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan
As said, we pretty much shocked the reception staff at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan by walking towards them instead of having a transport. 🙂
Directly someone came and helped us with the suitcases. After a quick check-in, we were driven up the hills with a golf car and got a small tour of the hotel. And it looked really beautiful!
Once in the room, we also got a cold Tamarind Juice which was heaven!
Our room at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan
We stayed at a room with partial sea view during our time at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan. The room was really spacious and we definitely liked the clear, modern and bright design with turquoise elements.

The bathroom is big and really modern. We definitely liked the big shower with its good water pressure. However, this type of room did not have a bath tub (little minus point)

Our room at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan also had a beautiful balcony with two comfortable chairs and a sofa. We had a partial sea view from our balcony and definitely enjoyed sitting outside in the evening hours.
The only weird thing about the balcony was that it directly connected to the neighboring room’s balcony without a real barrier. The neighboring room was empty when we visited, but I think this is definitely something that could be improved!

The Amenities
As you may know, I deeply care about the amenities offered by a hotel. To me, they are really the difference between whether you feel at home or not.
The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan’s rooms are equipped with everything you would expect – shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion.

There is also a kettle and a french press to prepare coffee – make sure to use the free water though as the water from the tab tastes funky.
Complimentary water is provided, however, it is limited in how much water you will get.
The Pools at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan
The pools were our main reason to stay at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan. We had previously seen pictures of the stunning view and the beautiful sunsets from the pools and we wanted this as well.
And the pools did not disappoint. There are two infinity pools (three if you count the kids pool) that both overlook the main and offer a beautiful view on Bali “mainland” on clear days.

The upper pool is a bit better for sunset and comes with a swim-up pool bar (we love these!).
Surprisingly, the pool bar closes at 6 pm already – so you better order your sunset drinks in advance. It might have been due to low season and low occupancy but we think it would make sense to open the pool bar for at least another hour as the sun was setting around 6:45 pm during our stay.

There was one thing about the pool though that was a little minus: as the pools were heavily chlorinated, I was warned upon checking not to dip my (blond dyed) hair into the pools as they had cases of blonde hair getting a nasty green stain due to that.
And while I really liked that they were so considerate to warn me (and even have a pool sign indicating this), I think the pool needs less chlorine. It certainly smelled stronger than other pools in Bali and I think it wouldn’t be necessary.
Just in case some of you blonde ladies experience this problem with your hair (at this pool or another one): Wash it with ketchup! Or even do a “ketchup package” and let it sit in your hair under a shower cap. It sounds weird but it works to remove any pool green from your golden strands 😉
The Food at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan
The breakfast at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan was my favorite breakfast in all of Bali!
If you have a “breakfast package” with your booking, you can choose two items from the menu as well as coffee or tea and fresh fruit juice.
And they had so many of my favorite breakfast items! Finally, I got smoothie bowls and Avo on Toast again! (Yeah, I know, it’s cliche Instagram food – but I LOVE it!).

And the food came beautifully arranged and with love for details – something I highly value as well!
Look at my granola bowl from day two – they even put my name on it in little pieces of honey melon! This was for sure the cutest and most thoughtful thing I ever had someone to do for me for breakfast!

Our final verdict on The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan
We definitely enjoyed our stay at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan and we would totally recommend this place to you if you are looking for luxury accommodation on Nusa Lembongan! It is certainly not cheap for Nusa Lembongan – but there are no other comparable options with such a standard on the island!
And while this hotel is not located directly at the beach, the infinity pools are amazing to cool off after a long day of exploring this beautiful island. I really hope they will use less chlorine in the future – so that we blondes of the world can enjoy the pool worry-free!
