Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa- an Ubud private pool villa in Bali

Warning – this post can make you dream about staying in a super luxurious villa with a private pool in Bali! Read at your own caution!

Jokes aside, we want to show you one of the most stunning luxury boutique hotels that we have stayed in so far – the Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa! And even though we already spoilered the most amazing part (did we just hear you ask for a private pool villa in Bali???) – we will, of course, review the property as thoroughly and honestly as always!

Kayumanis Ubud was actually the first hotel on our trip to Bali and we stayed here for two nights (wish it was more!). Right afterward we hopped on to get to another location of Kayumanis in Sanur – but now let’s first focus on their private pool villas in Ubud!

About Kayumanis Villas and their philosophy

Kayumanis actually has four locations in Bali – two of which only accommodate guests of 12 years or older (“adults only”).

They also have two properties in China (Nanjing and Yangshuo) and are building another one in Surabaya, Indonesia as well.

What we really loved right from the beginning was Kayumanis’ philosophy and their focus on privacy. Kayumanis offers you the comfort of a resort – along with the privacy that comes with a private villa. They won countless luxury and spa awards as well – and we now know why!

About Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa consists of a central complex as well as 23 individual luxury villas

All of these villas come with a private pool – and they range from one to three bedrooms. They are all incredibly large – the “smallest” one being 300 sqm and the largest one being 750 sqm.

Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa also has a distinctive 700 sqm honeymoon suite for newly-weds looking for the ultimate luxury honeymoon.

The location of Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa is located in Sayan Village, about 3 km from Central Ubud. It’s about 35 kilometers from the international airport and the journey to these stunning luxury villas with private pools should take around 1-1.5 hours.

Kayumanis Ubud is located along the Ayung river that flows through Ubud from North to South (although you do not have a river view from the villas). You are pretty much in the middle between the night market, the Bali Swing and the Campuhan Ridge Walk. So in other words: just in the perfect location to explore Ubud!

Check-in at Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

We arrived early at Kayumanis Ubud so we did not expect our room to be ready get (check-in is 2 pm). We were offered to wait at the main restaurant (called the dining corner) and gladly took that chance.

Budani showed us the way and we had a first glimpse at the stunning property of Kayumanis Ubud – everything was soooooo green! You can’t see the villas as they are all hidden behind high walls for maximum privacy.

Welcome Drinks at Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

Once at the “Dining corner”, they gave us some beautiful welcome flowers and offers us a drink called Lomi Lomi (a homemade lemonade with honey). The view from the restaurant over the Ayung river valley is amazing!

We also got cold towels that smelled like Cinnamon. Staff explained to us that Kayumanis actually means “Cinnamon” and showed us a Cinnamon tree on their property too!

Our private pool villa in Ubud

So let’s get right to what you wanted to know since you started reading this luxury hotel review – these Ubud private pool villas!

We actually stayed in a resort with our own private pool before twice only (in Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates) – so we were super, super excited about staying at this super luxurious private pool villa in Ubud!

At slightly before 2 pm it was time for us to finally see our gorgeous villa! Edi introduced himself to us as our personal butler and brought us to villa 23 (named Uyung).

And once we went around the corner, we simply couldn’t stop grinning – the pool look amazing and the villa is just plain gorgeous!

The whole 300 sqm are designed very open – you have an outdoor bathroom as well as an outdoor living room and even a kitchen!

The kitchen surprised us a bit in the beginning, but we were later explained that this is there to help guests feel at home instead of being in a hotel. This is one of Kayumanis’ most important brand messages – next to privacy and personalization of the experience.

We usually do not start with the 360° tours right away – but in this case, we decided that it’s simply the best way to show you our stunning luxury villa with a private pool in Ubud!

Just click on the arrows to move to the next spot and the info points and pictures to get additional information!

The bedroom

The only place that is completely indoors is the bedroom. It comes with a big (and super comfy!) canopy bed – just perfect for honeymooners!

Also, there’s a minibar, a safe, a sofa and a desk if you need some aircon time! 🙂

The open-air bathroom

We absolutely loved the outdoor bathroom that came with a big couple bathtub as well as a stunning outdoor waterfall shower. It was really hard to decide whether I want to shower or take a bath! 🙂

If you are on honeymoon, Kayumanis Ubud will also prepare a special honeymoon offering for you – you’ll get a super cute heart-shaped cake and they will prepare a flower bath with roses for you!

And even though it was not our honeymoon, we still got to experience this romantic couple offer anyway!

The open-air living room

As mentioned earlier, the living room is outside as well and covered by a rooftop only. There’s a sofa, a table for eating and a small kitchenette.

We did not use the kitchen and we doubt that a lot of guests use it as there were no pans or pots. But I am sure if you want to, the reception would gladly bring you anything you need!

The private pool (!!!)

Well, we saved the biggest attention seeker until now: the private pool! It’s pretty hard NOT to love a private pool – but with this one, it is simply impossible!

The pool temperature was just perfect and the little waterfall at the end made sure that we always had the perfect tropical sound in the background while being in our “living room”

Just imagine waking up in your canopy bed, seeing this gorgeous pool and being able to directly jump into the pool without having to worry about anything!

The amenities

As you know, I always care a lot about the amenities that are provided by a hotel. And Kayumanis Ubud ticked all my boxes here!

You have full-sized organic shampoo, conditioner and shower gel next to both the bathtub as well as the waterfall rainforest shower.

Then your minibar (both in the kitchen as well as the bedroom) are equipped with free drinks that are refilled every day. Oh, and did I mention that Kayumanis always has FREE cookies?!

Also, there’s a kettle, Balinese coffee and various teas in your kitchen area and you’ll get fresh fruit daily as well!

Facilities at Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

Kayumanis Ubud actually has pretty large grounds, so there’s a lot to explore besides your private villa.

The Spa at Kayumanis Ubud

What would Ubud be without a spa? (Answer: still stunningly gorgeous – but it’s simply part of the essence of Bali and especially Ubud!).

And Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa does not have the “Spa” in its name without a reason: Kayumanis Ubud indeed has a state of the art spa itself (see their Spa menu here).

In order to get to Kayumanis Ubud Spa, you cross a bridge leading over the Ayung river and then it is directly to your right!

We had a one-hour couple relaxation massage at the spa and it was really really good! Before you start, they ask you a few questions about your health and how you like your massage and then you can decide your massage oil.

Kayumanis Ubud Spa had five different massage oils available – and they are all exclusively produced for Kayumanis from ingredients in Bali. The oils are completely organic too – this is something I really liked! Before the massage, we had a foot bath that was also really good.

In case you are worried about the spa etiquette (I always do!): before your massage, you will go into a changing room where you will find disposable underpants and a bathrobe for your modesty.

And don’t worry – the underpants are not too small – they also fit my L sized butt without any problems! 🙂

During your massage, you can hear the river flow and the birds chirping. Kayumanis Ubud decided to not have any music and build the spa treatment area in a semi-open concept so that you can connect with nature during your treatment.

The Central Pool

If you thought there is no central pool because you already have your private pool villa in Ubud, you are so wrong! Kayumanis Ubud also has a central infinity pool with beautiful cabanas to relax in.

And no, it’s not the one in the dining corner. That’s for decoration only! 🙂

This pool at Kayumanis Ubud is only for decoration!

There is another pool on the other side of the river! Even though each villa comes with a private pool, Kayumanis Ubud also has a main pool that is beautifully set among the greenery of the jungle.

We are not sure if people use the pool a lot as it was completely empty when we stopped by after our spa treatment. It almost felt a bit eerie, because it was so tranquil and hidden.

We simply loved our private pool so much that we decided to go back to our villa instead – but just so that you know, there IS a main pool as well at Kayumanis Ubud!

Activities at Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

There are a number of free activities that are offered by Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa although most of them are transfers.

They offer complimentary Yoga sessions every Saturday – we did not have to try this as we stayed from Monday to Wednesday though!

However, we DID use the free shuttle service – both to Ubud Center as well as to the Campuhan Ridge Walk. The shuttle will also bring you back to Kayumanis Ubud so you don’t have to bother with haggling with a taxi driver. We didn’t know this the first evening and can tell you that taxis are a complicated situation in Central Ubud.

The food at Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

You know that I am all about the food, so next up in our review of Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa is their food offerings. And – spoiler alert – these are worth mentioning for sure!

Breakfast at Kayumanis Ubud

Breakfast is offered at the Dining Corner next to the central pool. But…you can actually opt to eat in your private villa instead without any extra cost! The only place where we had such a service so far was at Al Maha Desert Resort in the United Arab Emirates – and guess what, we LOVED that option!

You can choose between American, Continental, Indonesian and “Ayung” breakfast – and these are all pretty huge!

High Tea at Kayumanis Ubud

We absolutely fell in love with high tea in London and so we were delighted to hear that complimentary high tea is offered at Kayumanis Ubud.

And if that’s not awesome enough for you: there’s one thing that makes this even more top-notch: You can opt to have your complimentary high tea in your private villa as well!

The afternoon tea came with sweet and salty options and was enough for us until dinner time (we skipped having lunch).

Dinner at Kayumanis Ubud

In regards to dinner, Kayumanis Ubud offers you different options. You can either choose to eat at the “Dining Corner” (specialized in Thai food) or (and you know already what is coming now…) in your private villa!

So in case, you don’t want to leave your gorgeous private pool villa in Ubud at any time (which, though, would be a shame) – Kayumanis Ubud will make this possible for you. 😉

We went to Ubud for one evening and ate at the “Dining Corner” the other evening. The “Dining Corner” offers an Indonesian menu as well as Thai food

Markus took the Indonesian Cinnamon Curry while I went for Thai-style stir-fried chicken with cashews and both meals were DELICIOUS!

We were also served a complimentary “Amuse-bouche”, flavored water and bread with butter before our main course arrived.

Wrap up – our personal verdict on Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa

Well, I think you already noticed it throughout our review of Kayumanis Ubud Private Villa & Spa: we genuinely loved that place! In our opinion, this is a perfect place for spending a honeymoon in Ubud in absolute privacy.

Did we always wear a bathing suit when jumping into the pool? Hell no! There’s a reason why drones are strictly forbidden at Kayumanis Ubud – and we think that’s a really good idea!

Ubud is not only incredible instagrammable – but it also offers a rich cultural experience and a real exotic jungle feeling. From the sacred monkey forest to the Bali swing, incredible wellness and spa options to tasty food – Ubud has it all.

And by staying at Kayumanis Ubud, nothing of that is ever far away – even though it feels like you are out there alone, in serenity!
