What to wear to Disneyland Paris

One of the things I thought the most when visiting Disneyland Paris in August 2019 was: “What to wear to Disneyland???”

I was going on a girls’ trip with my best friend Cat and we decided to both dress in some Disney inspired outfits. We come up with a number of points that our outfits for Disneyland had to fulfill in order to be our perfect Disneyland look:

  1. They needed to be comfortable enough for the whole day
  2. They should look cute and have a relation to Disney or Disneyland without being costumey
  3. They needed to be suitable for the expected weather

Given that we were traveling in August and it was forecasted to be 28°C and mostly sunny, it was easy to go for a summer look.

But don’t worry – in this article, I will cover EVERYTHING about what to wear to Disneyland: From summer outfits to winter looks and from sunny days to rainy weather. I’ll give you my personal tips on which shoes are comfortable and stylish enough as well as show you cute bags and accessories.

And don’t forget to check my ultimate guide to Disneyland, including lots of super important tips and tricks – including on how to skip the queues!

I also wrote a guide about awesome Disneybounding outfits – but this article here is focused on a more subtle approach on what to wear to Disneyland (or Disney World)!

What to wear to Disneyland – our outfits!

As I mentioned, we both also wore Disney inspired dresses for adults when visiting Disneyland Paris. We both went into slightly different directions – and I will give you various ideas for both these types of Disneyland outfits in this blog post!

Cat’s Outfit to Disneyland Paris (Minnie Mouse Disneybound)

Cat’s outfit was obviously an hommage to Mini Mouse as she was wearing a cute red summer dress with white polka dots and a big bow that she crafted herself. (By the way, Cat is a tailor and you absolutely need to check her awesome website!)

It’s pretty much a Minnie Mouse Disneybound!

Cat's Outfit for Disneyland - a Minnie Mouse Disneybound

When Minnie Mouse saw Cat during a parade in the morning, she even pointed on Cat and showed that she recognized her outfit as similar to her own look!

If you want to wear something similar to Cat’s outfit, these items from Amazon.com are just perfect for you! Cat crafted the sparkling bow herself, so you can’t buy it (yet) – and for the shoes, I linked a similar pair that I own myself!

My outfit to Disneyland Paris (Match the castle!)

My own outfit to Disneyland was less obvious an homage to a character, but I wanted it to be pastel colors and match with the stunningly beautiful Sleeping Beauty Castle! And it turned out to match with Daisy Duck pretty well as you can see in my article about instagrammable photo spots in Disneyland Paris!

Since I bought the skirt directly on Amazon for this occasion, I can easily help you craft my outfit together if you are looking for something similar!

I could find my exact high top wedges from Geox but a similar pair – and the skirt is exactly the one I ordered 🙂

Check my Amazon Influencer Store!

By the way, did you know that I have an Amazon Influencer Store?

You can find all my outfits from Instagram there – as well as some other outfit inspirations. I created lists for “Instagrammable dresses”, “Disney Outfit Inspirations”, “Awesome cheap evening gowns”, “Affordable Summer Dresses” and many more as a shopping inspiration for you!

Amazon does not pay me to have this store, neither am I sponsored by them in any way. Basically the store is nothing more than a way for me to preset my ideas to you on Amazon directly instead of on a blog post as I can add lists and tag products on pictures of me.

But in case you buy something on Amazon from one of my inspiration lists, I will earn a small commission on that because I am an Amazon Affiliate. This commission does not come at any extra cost to you – and I always try to find the best items for you with the best price possible!

Disney’s rules on what to wear to Disneyland

Yes, as stated, there are a few rules that Disneyland has imposed on its customers that you absolutely need to follow when visiting Disneyland! If you don’t, they might even deny you access to Disneyland at all!

Let me quote those rules from the Disneyland website:

  • Costumes may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older
  • Masks may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older (unless they are for medical purposes)
  • Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
  • Excessively torn clothing or loose-fitting clothing which may drag on the ground and create a potential trip hazard
  • Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
  • Clothing with multiple layers are subject to search upon entry
  • Visible tattoos that could be considered inappropriate, such as those containing objectionable language or designs
  • Bare feet

They do have some exemptions for special events like Halloween (where you indeed can dress up as a Disney Princess as long as you don’t give autographs).

And they also clarified points that are indeed acceptable:

  • Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
  • Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
  • Acceptable accessories include transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus.
  • Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
  • Masks of any kind may not be worn, except for medical purposes.

So know that we have clarified the rules on what to wear to Disneyland – let’s have a look at some cool Disney inspired dress inspirations for adults!

What to wear to Disneyland for a perfect Disney look

If you want your outfit to be a bit like my outfit (but not exactly the same), then you should go for a dress or a skirt + shirt in simple colors. You can either go for pastels or bright, popping colors – just try to skip too much black, grey and white!

And obviously, accessories like a cute Disney inspired backpack or a headpiece (or even just a cute ribbon) go a long way to give your Disneyland outfit the necessary “extra”!

I’ll also write a guide on Disneybound outfits (Outfits inspired by Disney Characters) too – but this guide focuses on a more subtle “Disney look”

All of the items in this article are from Amazon.com and I made sure that they have a good rating and are affordable. A day at Disneyland is expensive enough and thus you shouldn’t risk going into debt just for your Disneyland outfit!

And I also added them to a custom list in my Amazon Influencer Store so that it’s super easy for you to find them anytime!

Disneyland Outfit: Hair and Head Accessories

What to wear to Disneyland inspiration: Hair Accessoires

Okay, one of the arguably most important and iconic outfit items for your perfect Disneyland outfit is a headpiece or a hair accessory!

You will see plenty of other guests with almost the same Mickey Ears + Ribbon. They are sold at Disneyland for 25€ – be smart and bring your own!

Here are a few cute ideas that I came across on Amazon when planning what to wear to Disneyland!

Disneyland Outfit: Best bags for Disneyland

What to wear to Disneyland inspiration: Bags and Backpacks

And last but not least, you will need a bag for your stuff when visiting Disneyland. After all, you need stuff like a water bottle or sunscreen. (Check my packing list in my ultimate guide to visiting Disneyland for further ideas what to pack!)

Luckily, there are plenty of super cute backpacks (Loungefly seems to have the absolute monopoly on awesome Disney bags…!), wallets and handbags on Amazon.com that are just perfect for your Disneyland outfit!

The neck pouches are a particularly cool idea to keep your valuables safe (and stylish) while doing a trip to Disneyland!

What to wear to Disneyland in Summer

Summer is, not surprisingly, the time where Disneyland gets the most visitors. And luckily, dressing for Disneyland is particularly easy in summertime! There are just too many cute Disneyland dresses, skirts and shirts out there!

Disneyland Outfit: Dresses / Skirts / Shirts

Knee-length dresses and skirts are perfect outfit items to wear to Disneyland because you won’t have to worry about them too much. And who wants to worry about his outfit when in Disneyland?!

Here are some of the cute dresses, skirts, and shirts that I found when thinking about what to wear to Disneyland:

Disneyland Outfit: Shoes

The perfect shoes for Disneyland should be one thing first: comfortable! Because you will be walking around in them the whole day, lining up for attractions and stand for the Disney Parade. So no high heels, please 😉

I am a huge fan of Sketchers and their Memory Foam or Yoga Mat Soles – I have worn them around the world during various trips. And whenever I break a pair after excessive wear, I get at least one new pair :D. Even the ones with a wedge heel can be worn the whole day!

But of course, you can also wear other sneakers and flip flops – whatever you are comfortable with!

Here are some ideas for shoes to wear to Disneyland:

What to wear to Disneyland in Winter

What to wear to Disneyland in Wintertime Inspiration

Most Disneyland outfit guides seem to assume that it’s summer forever – but obviously, people also visit Disneyland in Wintertime.

So, if you are wondering what to wear to Disneyland in December – or basically November to March – then I have some warm Disney outfit items for you too!

Cute Coats and Jackets for Disneyland

The most important item in any winter fashion guide: A coat or jacket! Luckily, there are some awesome items available on Amazon to build your perfect Disneyland Winter outfit!

Cute Beanies and Gloves for Disneyland

I hate nothing more than if I get cold ears and hands (okay, and feet…)! So some of the most important items for an awesome Disneyland outfit are beanies and gloves.

Luckily, again, Amazon has some pretty cute and affordable ones to wear to Disneyland!

Warm tights and over-knee socks for Disneyland in Winter

You can pretty much wear most of the summer outfits just by wearing them together with some warm tights and a long sleeve underneath!

And I swear, I will never forget the day I discovered fleece-lined tights! They are soooo nice against the skin – and they will keep you warm all day long together with good boots and a coat!

You can also wear over-knee socks – but then I’d advise you to wear at least a skin-colored thinner tight underneath 🙂

What to wear to Disneyland in Spring / Fall

Since we have already covered what to wear to Disneyland in Summer and in Winter, it’s pretty easy to add some recommendations on outfits for spring and fall.

In general, you can start with the summer dresses and, depending on the weather forecast, add thin tights to the dresses/skirts. You might also want to add a bolero or cardigan to give your dress long sleeves (that you can easily remove if it gets too warm)

For the shoes, it makes sense to opt for sneakers or thinner boots (see summer section).

Also, the chance of rain is higher in spring and in autumn, so you might want to take an umbrella with you – a guide on what to wear to Disneyland when it rains is below too!

Last but not least, bring a light jacket or trenchcoat to keep you warm while waiting in line for attractions! Below are some inspirations on spring/fall items for Disneyland!

What to wear to Disneyland when it rains

What to wear to Disneyland when it rains inspiration

If the weather forecast for the day of your visit does show that there is the potential of rain (or worse, you KNOW that it’s going to rain!), don’t fret: You can still have a cute Disney inspired outfit!

Cute umbrellas

First of all, you should decide on a nice umbrella to take. The full-size dome shapes ones below will look really cool on pictures (I have a transparent one) – and who doesn’t want an umbrella with Unicorns?! But you also have to carry it the whole day on the other hand. So take one like these if you are sure it rains and you want cute pictures anyway!

If you only know that there’s a CHANCE that it might rain when you plan what to wear to Disneyland – then I would recommend a small umbrella that can be folded like these ones below!

Rain Boots for a better mood

Okay, next up for our “what to wear to Disneyland when it rains” guide: Let’s find some really cute Rain Boots for your Disneyland outfit!

If it’s a warm summer rain day, you’ll be fine with flip flops too – but you don’t want soaking wet sneakers for the rest of the day! And cute rain boots are like THE BEST for bad weather (trust me, I have THREE pairs – including the one below from Desigual…!)

Prices and images pulled from the Amazon Product Advertising API on:

Rain Ponchos for the “worst-case scenario”

Last but not least, you can wear a rain poncho. I have to be honest with you: I hate rain ponchos normally. They don’t look flattery and then stick to your body when they are plastic made.

But they do their job to keep you dry when it rains. So I looked around until I found some super cute rain ponchos on Amazon. And I would indeed wear these ones!
