Let’s talk about Disneybounds! I have previously already released a post about what to wear to Disneyland. And I mentioned Disneybounding in this article already and a lot of you were super intrigued to learn more about these Disney inspired dresses for adults.

o I decided to create some awesome Disneybounding outfit inspirations for you! And likewise as with my Disneyland Outfit guide, I made sure that you can get all of these items directly on Amazon.com. I also checked that they are all pretty affordable and have a good rating!

So let’s hop into the world of “Disney Princesses meets everyday outfit”!

What is “Disneybounding”?

“Disneybounding” means that you are wearing an everyday outfit that is resembling your favorite Disney Princess or Disney Character. It’s subtle enough to not be a costume – but recognizable based on the colors and the cut.

And obviously “Disneybounding” outfits are absolutely perfect when you are planning what to wear to Disneyland! (Although they are not limited to a visit to Disneyland – you could also go Disneybounding simply because you are in the mood for it!)

Disney’s rules on what to wear to Disneyland

Disneybounding in Disneyland is a huge trend because Disneyland has some really specific rules about what you are allowed to wear to Disneyland! If you don’t follow these rules, staff might even deny you access to Disneyland at all!

Let me quote those rules from the Disneyland website:

Costumes may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older
Masks may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older (unless they are for medical purposes)
Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
Excessively torn clothing or loose fitting clothing which may drag on the ground and create a potential trip hazard
Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
Clothing with multiple layers are subject to search upon entry
Visible tattoos that could be considered inappropriate, such as those containing objectionable language or designs
Bare feet

They do have some exemptions for special events like Halloween (where you indeed can dress up as a Disney Princess as long as you don’t give autographs).

And they also clarified a point points that are indeed acceptable:

Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus.
Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
Masks of any kind may not be worn, except for medical purposes.

So know that we have clarified the rules on what to wear to Disneyland – let’s have a look at some cool Disney inspired dress inspirations for adults!

Do’s And Don’t of Disneybounding

Of course everyone does interpret fashion differently – and that’s also the case when trying to combine Disney inspired dresses for adults that fit the “criteria” of Disneybounding.

Here’s a few tips on things to do and things to avoid when creating a Disneybound outfit:

Do / That’s Disneybounding

Recreate the style of a Disney Character by matching the colors and the cut
Replace skirts with trousers if you like
Go for knee-length skirts
Care for details (accessories)
Wear comfortable shoes instead of heels
Do use strong colors

Avoid / Don’t use

Buying a classic costume
Wigs
Weird accessories like bows / quivers
Being to strict with colors, cut, material
Show a lot of skin (hey, Disney is meant to be for kids too!)

Disneybounding as a group or couple

Disneybounding only becomes more fun the more people do it!

So if you go to Disneyland with your girl squad – discuss your outfits together and dress up as your favorite Disney Characters! Be sure that you’ll get a lot of attention and happy looks!

Some ideas could be:

“Classic” Disney Princesses” (Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella …)
“New” Disney Princesses (Merida, Moana, Rapunzel,…)
“Fighter/Exotic Disney Princesses” (Pocahontas, Mulan, Merida, Moana)
Daisy Duck and Minnie Mouse
Elsa and Anna (Frozen)

And if your boyfriend/husband does not run away screaming (Markus would :D) – then think about dressing as a Disney Couple! You could be…

Disney Princess Disneybounds

Obviously, some of the most popular Disneybounds are Disney Princess like Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Ariel.

That’s why we’ll start with these Disneybounds when looking for inspiration for Disney inspired dresses for adults!

Snow White Disneybound

For the Snow White Disneybound, choose a yellow skirt with an A-line or a circle skirt. I wouldn’t take a floor length because it will be impractical during your day at Disneyland.

Match it with a blue bloose with poofy arms and add a read hairband or ribbon. For the shoes you could go for red flats or yellow ones – yellow is more orginial though for a true Snow White Disneybound!

Belle Disneybound

Most important for a Belle Disneybound is obviously finding the right yellow off-the-shoulder dress. And again, I strongly advise you against a floor length dress for your day at Disneyland. Go for a knee-length dress with flat pumps for the perfect Disneyland Belle Disneybound!

And don’t forget to add a hair scarf and some rose accessories – I found a necklace the perfect addition to an off-the-shoulder dress!

Ariel Disneybound

Ariel is obviously a bit of a more difficult Disneybound as you obviously can’t run around with a mermaid tail. So instead, for your Ariel Disneybound

Rapunzel Disneybound

Obivously, the first thing that comes to people’s mind about Rapunzel is “Long, long hair”. But since a Rapunzel Disneybound should still be subtle, I would strongly advise you against wearing a Rapunzel wig. Even though Disneyland does allow you to wear a wig to Disneyland, it’s just too cliché for a Rapunzel Disneybound!

Go for a lavender colored lacy dress (again, don’t go floor length for Disneyland) and pair it with cute accessories for the perfect Rapunzel Disneybound!

Cinderella Disneybound

Who does NOT want to be a princess like Cinderella every once in a while?! As we have already ruled out floor-length dresses for any Disneyland outfit, I would go for a knee-length tulle skirt for a Cinderella Disneybound.

Most tulle dresses look very much like prom, why I would recommend combining a tulle skirt with a lace long sleeve top instead (no gloves!). This way you’ll get a wearable outfit that totally works as a Cinderella Disneybound!

For accessories for your Cinderella Disneybound, add a light blue choker, blue ear studs and a simple headband. And for the shoes – you can even go with silver sneakers for this one (or opt for simple light blue flats)!

Merida Disneybound

The key to a Merida Disneybound is looking COOL. Merida is arguably one of the toughest Disney Princesses and thus, your Merida Disneybound needs to look cool too!

Since wearing a quiver and a bow would be too costumy, you should add a leather crossbody bag to a basic dark turqouise/blue cotton dress with long sleeves. You also need a big belt for a Merida Disneybound – the one below adjusts to your waist because it’s elastic and will look great with that dress.

In order to add some bows and arrows – go for jewelry! Finish off your Merida Disneybound with some brown boots or sandals!

Moana Disneybound

A Moana Disneybound is really perfect for a summer day when looking for an outfit to wear to Disneyland!

And it’s one of the easier Disneybounds as you can essentially pair any brown or beige skirt with an orange / dark salmon top for it.

The key to a really cool Moana Disneybound are the acessories – most important a turquoise necklace, ideally with leather and pearls or shells. And as there’s not only sand at Disneyland, I would recommend you to wear some sandals with it – preferably some gladiator sandals!

Mulan Disneybound

A Mulan Disneybound can come in different colorings – the most original one is the one with a yellow skirt and a green kimono. You will often see a purple / white / red variant of a Mulan Disneybound – it also looks gorgeous!

For a non-costumy version I would go for a light yellow chiffon skirt and a green chiffon bolero. Pair it with a blue top and a red obi-inspired waist band and you got the perfect Mulan Disneybound!

Jasmine Disneybound

Did you know that Jasmine is one of the most popular Disney princesses? So of course Jasmine couldn’t be missing for this Disneybound Outfit guide!

The Jasmine Disneybound is the ONE exemption where I would vouch for a long chiffon skirt. While you could potentially wear Harem pants (Aladdin pants) for a Jasmine Disneybound, I found that most of Chiffon ones looks very “Belly Dancer Costume” a like.

So instead, go for a Chiffon skirt and a crop top and add some golden statement jewelry to it! And for the hair – just use some satin ribbon band to finish your Jasmine Disneybound Hairstyle!

Non Disney Princess Disneybounds

Obviously, people do not only dress up as Disney Princesses! There are a few other Disney characters that people do dress up like in the form of Disneybounding – like Minnie Mouse and Alice in Wonderland!

Minnie Mouse Disneybound

So the most iconic Non Disney Princess Disney Character is without a doubt Minnie Mouse!

A Minnie Mouse Disneybound is also one of the easiest Disneybounds to create because there millions of cute red dresses with white polka dots. Combine that with a big red ribbon and EVERYONE will recognize your Minnie Mouse Disneybound!

Depending on the weather you can wear black tights or just leave them out – these tights below are my absolute favorite because they don’t roll down and they just look super sexy!

Daisy Duck Disneybound

Well, when you can dress in a Minnie Mouse Disneybound, then you can dress as a Daisy Duck Disneybound as well, of course!

And again, a Daisy Duck Disneybound is really easy to pull off and you might already have a fitting purple / lavender dress at home that you can use. You could also take a lavender shirt and a white skirt instead, too! Just find some cute pink ballerina flats and a big bow headband and you are good to go as a Daisy Duck Disneybound!

And since Daisy always wears a bracelet, you can get a fitting strap for your watch or fitness tracker in turquoise / aqua to finish off this Disney inspired dress for adults!

Elsa Disneybound (Frozen Disneybound)

If you are wondering why Elsa and Anna are officially not Disney Princesses, here’s the short answer: Elsa is a queen (of Arendale) and Anna does not have an aminal companion . That’s why they both do not count as official Disney Princesses (yes, they have official rules for that!)

But who cares? You can dress up as an Elsa Disneybound anyway if you like! Get a sky blue tulle or chiffon dress and simply add a glittery / silver shawls to this Frozen Disneybound. And of course, you can’t miss some snowflake jewelry as an Elsa Disneybound!

For the shoes, go with silver pumps or these super cute sky blue sandals for a comfortable Frozen Day at Disneyland!

Anna Disneybound (Frozen Disneybound)

An Elsa Disneybound is especially perfect for a winter visit to Disneyland! Just add some tights and a trenchcoat and you are good to go!

And if this Elsa Disneybound is too warm for the time of your visit to Disneyland – just replace the turtleneck and the vest with a simple black v-neck T-shirt! You can also switch the embroidered boots with ballerina flats for a summer version of this Elsa Disneybound!

Alice in Wonderland Disneybound

The key with the Alice in Wonderland Disneybound is to NOT overdo the style! While you will easily find white costume aprons that look very similar to the one Alice is wearing, this is not the way to go. You don’t want your Alice in Wonderland Disneybound to be costumy!

That’s why I would suggest pairing the retro dress below with a subtle, smaller Apron – you will still be very easy to recognize as disneybounding Alice (or even leave it awa completely)! Add a headband with a black ribbon and some classic black Mary Jane shoes and you are good to go (again, don’t overdo it with Lolita shoes here)!

And this Disney inspired dress for adults is also a perfect look for cooler days – just add some warm white tights and wear a white long sleeve under your dress and you are the perfect Alice in (Winter-)Wonderland Disneybound!
