When I was a kid, my grandparents used to visit various amusement parks with me, my cousins and my siblings. Also, my parents sometimes took my sister, my brother and me to one. I always loved these visits and still today, amusement parks make my heart go wild of joy.
So when I found out that Dubai has a whole complex of FOUR amusement parks, I knew we had to go: Dubai Parks and Resorts has a Legoland (oh, sweet childhood memories!), a Legoland Waterpark, a Hollywood themed park (Motiongate Dubai) and even a Bollywood Park! They are all located next to each other, connected by an area called “Riverland Dubai”.
Surprisingly, there was not a lot of reviews of Dubai Parks and Resorts and thus, I decided to write an in-depth guide for you about everything you need to know about Legoland Dubai, Legoland Waterparks, Motiongate Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai!
And I can already tell you one things front up: this park is not only for families with kids!

General information about Dubai Parks and Resorts
Four different amusement parks in one location
As mentioned, there are four different parks being part of Dubai Parks and Resorts: Legoland Dubai, Legoland Water Park, Motiongate Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai.
The whole complex of Dubai Parks and Resorts has opened in October 2016 and is located south of Dubai Marina. Together, it’s the largest amusement park in the whole Middle East
Sometimes you will find people talk about five parks – and that is because all of the four parks are connected with each other through a central area called “Riverland Dubai”. However, Riverland Dubai is not really an amusement park on its own: It does not cost entrance and it doesn’t have shows or rides.

Dubai Parks and Resorts ticket prices
You can buy individual tickets at each park entrance – and price varies per park (from 175AED for Bollywood Parks Dubai to 245 AED for Legoland Dubai, Legoland Water Park and Motiongate Duby)
However, you can also buy a “two parks one day” ticket for 295 AED online / 345 AED at the gate.
And then there is the “all parks two days” ticket for 525 AED.
The funny thing is, that the annual passes are already cheaper than two single admission tickets and the “annual all parks” ticket is just 595 AED. I guess, they know that most tourists will only visit for one or two days.
Sometimes, there is offers with reduced entrance – like for Iftar at Bollywood Parks Dubai during Ramadan. It’s worth checking online before if any of the parks currently runs some offers. Also UAE residents only pay 99 AED per visit for any park.
Children below 3 are free – but other than that, there is sadly no child discount!
Q-Fast Pass
The Q-Fast Pass is one of these “skip-the-line” passes that is supposed to reduce your waiting time. It can be purchased at guest services at the following prices:
- Legoland Dubai: 50 AED
- Motiongate Dubai: 50 AED
- Bollywood Parks Dubai: 45 AED
Given that we almost never had to wait more than 5 minutes for ANY attraction, I doubt that it is worth the extra cost at the moment. We visited on a Friday (UAE weekend) – however Ramadan might have had an impact. I would probably recommend to NOT buy it in the first place – and only to upgrade should it be surprisingly crowded!
Digipass
The Digipass gives you unlimited digital photos of all those pictures shot during the rides. You know, the ones that are available at rollercoasters and the likes and that are normally ridiculously overpriced.
If you are a REAL fan of these pics, the Digipass can be worth it as it also offers a 50% off the printed pictures, keyrings and magnets and you got the digital ones to share with social media immediately.
However, Digipass is pretty expensive too:
- Legoland Dubai: 160 AED
- Motiongate Dubai: 220 AED
- Bollywood Parks Dubai 100 AED

Height and Age Restrictions
Some of the attractions (especially the wilder ones like the rollercoasters) do have height restrictions (minimum and maximum).
The minimum/maximum height to ride the attractions is always clearly marked at the entrance of the waiting area and is also checked and enforced by staff members of the park.
You will also find height restrictions for each ride on the free park maps – making sure you don’t rush towards an attraction, only to see your little one disappointed that he/she is too small!
We did not see age restrictions (which, in our view, makes more sense for amusement parks anyway).
How to get to Dubai Parks and Resorts
Most people probably arrive at Dubai Parks and Resorts by car. Markus and I initially planned to go by public transportation, but ran into some issues as information was scarce online. We then had to take a taxi from Ibn Battuta metro / bus station.
Let me show you all the option, so you can save yourself that hustle!
By car
Dubai Marina is approximately 30km north of Dubai Parks and Resort. Driving is pretty straight forward – just take Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) to Abu Dhabi and get off at Dubai Parks and Resorts ramp!
Parking is free at Dubai Parks and Resorts (apparently they tried to charge in the beginning but now dropped the fee).
Valet Parking is offered for 100 AED (although as a European I will never fully understand the concept of Valet parking, I guess)
By taxi
Obviously, taxi prices depend on where you are staying in Dubai. Luckily, taxi prices are rather low in Dubai with a starting rate of just 5 AED and a kilometer rate of 1.6 AED.
I calculated some taxi prices to give you an idea about the average taxi costs (oneway) to Dubai Parks and resorts:
- From Dubai Marina: 50-60 AED
- From Burj Khalifa: 90 AED
- Palm Jumeirah: 65-80 AED
- DXB (International Airport): 120 AED
By public transportation
You can go to Dubai Parks and Resorts by public transportation! In order to do that, you need to first take the red metro line to Ibn Battuta metro station.
From there, you can take the designated DPN1 bus going to Dubai Parks and Resorts. It only runs a couple of times though – so you need to adapt your plans to the schedule or take a taxi from/to Ibn Battuta metro station (~50 AED)
Be aware that the metro does not start running before 10 AM on Fridays and that you can only buy a single ticket INSIDE the metro station, NOT at the bus office. You can use NOL cards though.
If you plan to go on Friday, the first possible metro/bus combination that you could catch is the bus at 11:15, reaching Dubai Parks and Resorts around 20 minutes later. This means, that you will loose quite some park time if you plan to go to Legoland Dubai (not a problem if you are heading towards Motiongate Dubai or Bollywood Parks Dubai).
We took a taxi from Palm Jumeirah to Ibn Battuta and wanted to take the bus from there. However, we forgot our NOL cards at the hotel. Since we couldn’t enter the metro station to buy a one way ticket, we wouldn’t have been able to get the 10 AM bus even though we arrived at Ibn Battuta at 9:40 AM. We then decided to get a second taxi and for the return leg, we directly took a taxi to W Palm Jumeirah (where we were staying at that time)…
Shuttle service to Dubai Outlet Mall
Dubai Outlet Mall is super close to Dubai Parks and Resorts. Some hotels might offer a free shuttle service to Dubai Outlet mall – so that is worth checking with your hotel reception!
Riverland Dubai
Riverland Dubai is not a real amusement park on its own. It’s the central area connecting all four amusement parks in Dubai Parks and Resorts.
It’s beautifully decorated though and comes with various restaurants and shops.
There are different areas in Riverland that all are lovingly decorated (however, did not feel super authentic to me):
- French Village (A medival town)
- Boardwalk (America of the 1950s)
- The Peninsula (19th century street life)
- India Gate

Legoland Dubai
So, time to finally tell you about our experience with Dubai Parks and Resorts! Legoland Dubai was the first park we visited and we were literally among the first people to enter the park when it opened at 10 AM (Ramadan timing)!
We went into Miniland (where they have miniatures of famous buildings in the UAE made from Lego) and totally loved it! My inner child came out and I directly crawled into the miniature of Sheik Zayed Mosque (which we had already visited when in Abu Dhabi)!
After a visit to Lego Factory, we explored the different areas of Legoland Dubai (more information below).

I think it is definitely worth to buy the Combo package with Legoland Water Parks – and if you have the time, paying for the 2 days all parks ticket. It certainly offers a better value than the single entry ticket – which is really pricey in my opinion for the size of the park. And Motiongate Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai are fun for all ages too!
Legoland Dubai Timings (Opening hours)
Legoland Dubai is open year-round and has two different timings: Normal season and Ramadan timings. Ramadan depends on the islamic calendar – so you might want to check when it is anticipated for next year!

Legoland Dubai Areas
Upon entry, you will reach Lego factory. There is shops and restaurants here, as well as, well, Lego Factory.
Lego Factory runs guided tours every 30min, starting at 10:30 AM. Tours take around 15min and you will see how Lego bricks are produced in a mini Lego factory. In the end, you will be gifted a special “Legoland Dubai” lego brick.
From Lego Factory on, you will enter Miniland – with all those fun miniatures of Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Sheik Zayed Mosque and so on!
From Miniland on, you can venture into the different areas of the park:
- Lego City (Police, Driving School, etc.)
- Imagination (Lego Cars, Mindstorms etc.)
- Adventure (Underwater and Indiana Jones)
- Kingdoms (Knights and Castles)
Legoland Dubai Rides
Legoland Dubai has over 40 rides and shows – most of them suitable for smaller kids.
However, there is also a rollercoaster called “The Dragon” in Legoland Kingdoms that is definitely also for older children and adults. I really liked riding it – and there was literally no queue when we arrived.
Markus and I also took the time to build some cars at Imagination – and we even had a race with them! Also not to miss is the shows in Lego Studios 4D: There is two different movies (Ninjago / Lego Movie), each of it runs every hour. So there is shows every 30 minutes, beginning at 11AM.
We did skip most of Lego City, but really enjoyed Adventure. “Wave Racers” and “Submarine Adventure” were definitely a lot of fun!
Legoland Water Park Dubai
Dubai has no shortage of amazing waterparks – the biggest two being Aquaventure Waterpark and Wild Wadi Waterpark. They rival each other for the most thrilling and adventurous rides and are on a lot of people’s must do list (not surprising, given the temperatures in Dubai!)
Legoland Water Park Dubai is more on the calm sides of water parks and definitely puts the focus on younger kids. However, Markus and I still greatly enjoyed our time there and didn’t really want to leave. (We had to, since we still wanted to visit Motiongate Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai)

Same goes as what I already stated at Legoland Dubai – I would definitely take the Combo with Legoland or the 2 days all parls ticket as they offer a much better value in my opinion!
Legoland Water Park Timings
Legoland Water Parks is open year-round, except for about 10 days in February.
There is two different timings for Ramadan and “Normal Season”. Check online when Ramadan is expected for your visit as Ramadan follows the islamic calender and thus, dates change every year!

Legoland Water Park Rides
Legoland Water Parks has over 20 different water slides and attractions, including some water slides with tubes, a wavepool, a water play park and a lazy river.
We particularly loved the lazy river with the giant foam lego bricks. While you are floating around the river, you can collect lego bricks and built your own ride!
Somehow, the wave pool did not open before 2PM – and it was immediately crowded.
Time to line up for water slides entirely depended on the slide. For some of them, you did not have to line up at all, while we were waiting 10-15min for some of the others.
Swimwear policy at Legoland Water Parks
If you are wondering what attire is accepted in Legoland Water Park, this is clearly marked and stated on the website. Generally speaking, it is the same that would be accepted in any water park in western countries as well:
- Bikinis and bathing suits for women
- Speedos and Board shorts for men
- Rashguards (lots of Asians in these)
- Burkini (I did not see a single one)
Not allowed are T-Shirts, “normal clothing”, shoes, diapers etc. Not surprisingly, they ask you not to wear translucent or offensive clothing (I remember seeing a bathing suit depicting a naked body once on Amazon – I think that’s not cool here either)
Cabana Rental at Legoland Water Parks
If you plan to spend much of your day at Legoland Water Parks with your family, it could be an interesting option to rent a Cabana.
Cabanas come with 4 towels, a safe box and unlimited soft drinks for 4 people. However, they are far from being cheap.
Renting a cabana will set you back 495 AED – or 695 AED with a family lunch and a morning fruit platter. (715 AED if you want 4 Ice Lollies as well)
Motiongate Dubai
After having revived childhood memories in Legoland Dubai and splashed around Legoland Water Park, Markus and I went on to explore Motiongate Dubai.
Motiongate Dubai is a Hollywood-themed amusement park with different areas. It has the most thrilling rides and rollercoasters of all three parks. Unfortunately, quite a lot of rollercoasters and other interesting rides were not operating when we visited, so I can only tell you about the ones that were open! (But luckily, these were still quite a lot of them!)

Ramadan Iftar offer (Entrance + Iftar at the Candyapple): 260 AED
I would recommend to get the 1 day 2 parks ticket or the 2 days all parks ticket. It was difficult to visit all four parks within one day as we did, so their tickets make sense. You could combine Motiongate Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai with the 1 day 2 parks ticket if you only have one day.
However, if you take the 2 days all parks ticket, you could do it like this: Day 1: Legoland Dubai and Bollwood Parks Dubai, Day 2: Lego Water Parks and Motiongate. This way you would maximize the time you can spend in each day (due to their different opening timings) and really get the full experience!
Motiongate Dubai Timings
Motiongate Dubai has two different seasons: Winter time (2019: 13th of January to 4th of May) and Ramadan (2019: 5th of May to 31th of August). That means, Ramadan timing is much longer than Ramadan at Motiongate Dubai!
In between, it’s possible that the park is closed – I couldn’t find that out for sure on their website…! Please check online that it’s open should you plan to visit from September to December!

Motiongate Dubai Areas
When you enter Motiongate Dubai, you will first end up in “Studio Central” – a Hollywood themed restaurant and shopping complex. From there on, you can either go to Lionsgate, Dreamworks, Smurf Village or Columbia Pictures!
Dreamworks is the completely indoors (good if you are feeling hot), while the other areas are outdoor areas. Each area has a combination of shops, restaurants and, of course, themed rides. So, let’s have a look at each of them!
Motiongate Dubai Studio Central
Studio Central is just the entrance area with shops and restaurants. We quickly passed the Hollywood-themed boulevard as we were eager to find some thrill-seeking rides!
There is no rides in Studio Central.
Motiongate Dubai Dreamworks
Dreamworks was my favorite part of Motiongate Dubai. Straight before entry, you will find statues of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and Shrek. Of course we took the chance to snap a shot with these cuties!
What’s special about Dreamworks is that it is entirely indoor. This makes it perfect for hotter days as it is also cooled down by AC and offers protection from the sun.
After entering the hall you will first find a fountain with all your beloved heroes:
From this central complex, you get into smaller miniworlds, namely: “Shrek”, “Kung Fu Panda”, “Madagascar” and “How to train your dragon”.
We decided to first head to “Kung Fu Panda” and had a huge lunch at Mr.Ping’s Noodle shop. We could have definitely shared one plate as they were so huge!
Afterwards, we rode the 4D simulator “Kung Fu Panda: Unstoppable Awesomeness” – definitely recommended!
We went on to explore Madagascar and “How to train your dragon”. Both areas are super lovely decorated and offer different types of rides. Sadly, the rollercoaster at “How to train your dragon” was not operating – but it looked like A LOT OF fun! And the one in Madagascar (“Mad Pursuit”) was up and running and you can bet I loved the ride through the colorful world!
Our last stop in Dreamworks was Shrek – and this area is my favorite one! Make sure not to miss “Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Story” – it’s a slow ride that beautifully retells the story of the Shrek movie and it’s fun for all ages!
Also, there is an uber-cute restaurant called “Candy Apple” which host an iftar buffet during Ramadan. We chose to eat iftar at Bollywood Parks – but I am sure you would love the Shrek-themed one as well!
Motiongate Dubai Columbia Pictures
Next up on our journey through Motiongate Dubai was Columbia Pictures. Here you will find rides and attractions inspired by Hotel Transsylvania, Ghostbusters, Underworld and Zombieland.
Some of the attractions (especially Underworld 4D) might not be suitable for little kids – but the older ones are gonna enjoy them even more!
Sadly, both attractions that I was most keen on (Zombieland Freefall Tower and “Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs” River Expedition) were closed, so we did not stay super long in Columbia pictures.
If you visit Motiongate Dubai, definitely try battling the ghost in New York with the Ghostbuster’s ride though!
Motiongate Dubai Lionsgate
By the time we got to Lionsgate we were almost sure that the “Capitol Bullet Train” (a thrilling roller coaster ride with a looping and a helix) wouldn’t be operating as well. However, we were wrong! The most exciting roller coaster of the whole Dubai Parks and Resorts was indeed fully operational – and there wasn’t even any queue!
However, this brought me to the situation that I had to decide if I was brave enough to ride it. Markus hates roller coaster anyway, so this was up to me. I had never ridden a roller coaster with a looping before because I am a coward. But given that so many other had been closed, I felt the need for more thrill. So I got my guts together and went for it – and it was SOOOOOO COOL! Definitely my favorite ride in the whole Motiongate park! DO NOT SKIP IT!
Other than the roller coaster, there is actually only one second attraction in Lionsgate – a 4D movie simulator again. At this time, we were both fed up with 4D (they tend to give me motion sickness), so we decided it was time to head on to Bollywood Parks Dubai!
Motiongate Dubai Smurf Village
We did not visit the forth area of Motiongate Dubai (Smurf Village) as we were short on time. It’s catering a bit more to children and looked really cute from the quick glance we had into it!
Bollywood Parks Dubai
Bollywood Parks Dubai is actually the first Bollywood themed amusement park in the world!
We decided to finish our day there as we wanted to participate in the Iftar buffet and expected this park to look the prettiest in the dark. And we were not disappointed – Bollywood Parks Dubai looks particularly beautiful after the sun set down!
Also, after dinner, we decided to go easy on the rides and opted to see some of more of the shows in Raj Mahal theatre. Their quality varied from gruesome to awesome (with the magician being the worst) – but it was certainly a good plan to not go on too many 4D adventures after a buffet!
Bollywood Parks Dubai Ticket Prices

Ramadan Iftar offer (Entrance + Iftar): 50 AED (pay 10 AED per ride) / 99 AED (with unlimited rides)
Currently, during Ramadan, their Iftar offer is the best way to visit Bollywood parks. Go for unlimited rides as you will quickly get to those 5 rides within Bollywood Parks Dubai!
Outside of Ramadan, I stick to my recommendation to take the 2 days all parks offer at it simply has the best value for money and I sincerely enjoyed each and every of the four parks at Dubai Parks and Resorts!
Bollywood Parks Dubai Timings
Bollywood Parks Dubai has a Winter Season (13 of January to beginning of Ramadan) and a Ramadan Season (starting with the beginning of Ramadan). Unfortunately, their website does not state, how long Ramadan Season will be and if they close the park over at some point like Motiongate Dubai.
Thus, you should definitely check their website for recent opening timings.

Bollywood Parks Dubai Rides
Bollywood Parks Dubai is also separated into different areas:
- Bollywood Boulevard
- Mumbai Chowk
- Rustic Ravine
- Royal Plaza
- Bollywood Film Studios (Hall of Heroes)
However, we did not really notice being in different areas of the park (other than in Legoland Dubai or Motiongate Dubai), so I’ll treat it as “one park area”.
Most rides are themed afters some famous Bollywood movies or actors. As we both don’t watch Bollywood movies, we didn’t really know them. However, this did not take the fun away anyway!
Most attractions follow the same pattern as the other parks: There is 4D shows, rides where you shoot at targets and entertaining story based rides. There is no rollercoaster within Bollywood Parks.
However, they had the most amazing virtual ride in ALL Dubai Parks and Resorts. In fact, I haven’t been on such a ride since my visit to the Universal studios as a kid in the year 2000! I have kept telling Markus about how immersive these type of ride is – without any 3D goggles! So thus, I was soooo thrilled to finally have this experience again! The ride I am talking about is “Krrish: Hero’s flight” – and if there is ONE attraction you should visit in Bollywood Parks Dubai, it is this one!
Bollywood Parks Dubai Shows
The main focus of Bollywood Parks Dubai is not on the rides though – it is about the shows! There is various stages splattered across the park where you can watch different shows: from dancers to magicians, stunt artists and jugglers.
Let me warn you: NOT all of them are good and worth spending time on them. We felt that the magician’s performance was so bad that it almost made us cringe. And the juggler was pretty unspectacular as well.
However, we DID love all dance shows we saw! After all, this is what Bollywood is famous for – and for a good reason! The best place to watch these shows is the Raj Mahal theatre in our opinion. The building is made to resemble the Taj Mahal in India and simply looks great from the outside AND the inside!
Food and drinks at Dubai Parks and Resorts
You can’t bring your own food into the parks – and bags are searched at the entrance of each part. They did not take away our water bottles though – apparently water is accepted, even though the rules don’t state so.
Given the price level of food in Dubai in general and my experience with amusement parks, I was pleased to see that food and drinks were a much better price than expected!
There is plenty of food shops in each of the parks – the majority being among the “burger-fries-sandwiches-pizza” option. There was also a Chinese noodle shop in Motiongate (Kung Fu Panda, Dreamworks) with HUGE portions. Markus and I didn’t manage to finish ours – and we are good eaters! One dish was 35 AED and the other 40 AED – that’s less than 5$ if you share one!
For drinks, we particularly liked the drink offering at Legoland Dubai. When you buy the souvenir bottle for 25 AED, you can refill it with softdrinks for just 4 AED as much as you want (first fill is free).
At the entrance of Motiongate (next to the Guest services counter) there is a free water dispenser where you can refill bottles or just drink a sip before entering.
What to bring to Dubai Parks and Resorts
There is a few things that I think you should really think about bringing to Dubai Parks and Resorts! As mentioned, food and drinks are not among them (except for baby food in non-glass containers).
However, DO bring along a GoPro if you have one! And bring some mount to attach it to your chest – this way you can film the thrilling roller coaster as well as water slides with hands free!
If you want to go to Legoland Water Park and save the money on the lockers (they are quite expensive) – bring a small dry-bag where you can put your valuables in! Or a PacSafe (if you don’t know what that is, check my gift guide on things that world travelers really want!)
Do bring:
- Swimwear
- Towel
- GoPro + chest mount
- PacSafe
- Credit card (you can pay by card anywhere)
- Sun screen (lots of the park is outdoors)
Don’t bring:
- Lots of cash (pay by card)
- Food and drinks
- Dangerous items (including glass)
- Tripods and professional photo equipment (prohibited by the park)
Dubai Parks and Resorts Hotel: Lapita Resort & Spa
Lapita Resort & Spa is the only hotel in Dubai Parks and Resorts that is directly connected with Riverland (you can also see it on the map in the beginning of the blog post).
It is run by Autograph Collection and thus part of the Marriott Family. If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member: it’s a category 5 within Marriott Bonvoy, thus requiring 35,000 points per night.
The hotel is a Polynesian themed holiday resort with two large lagoon-style swimming pools. The pictures from the gardens and the hotel grounds looked promising, but I haven’t seen the facility myself.
Personally, I would recommend to stay somewhere closer to Dubai, preferably in Marina at a beach resort or on Palm Jumeirah. But if you plan to go full-throttle mode into amusement parks, then Lapita Hotel Dubai is what you are looking for!

No, it was not crowded when we visited. In fact, it was pretty empty. It might be more busy outside Ramadan but I already heard other bloggers using the word “empty” when decribing their experience. For now, I would NOT get a Q Fast Pass.
Absolutely! There were so many different attractions – Dubai Parks and Resort definitely offers something for all ages!
Maybe you have heard rumours about a Six Flags Park being built as part of Dubai Parks and Resorts. Sadly, development on this has stalled for years and was finally canceled in April 2019. So no, there will NOT be a Six Flags Park Dubai
Yes, there is various lockers across all parks! However, I felt like they were vastly overpriced: Small lockers start at 45 AED and go up to 70 AED for Jumbo size!
Aside from paying with Dirham (AED), most places in the park accept US Dollar, Euro and Saudi Arabian Riyals as well!
