In 2017 Markus and I spent over a month traveling the Philippines. And not only did we madly fall in love with the country’s natural beauty – we also found a ton of highly insta-worthy spots along the way!
Some of them are pretty well known like the Kawasan Falls – others are not even on Google Maps, let alone Instagram (like the secret waterfall we found on Siquijor island).
However, this guide is about the most instagrammable places in Palawan, Philippines.
And as usual, I included a map for you and will show you for each of the spots how you can get there. We spent 3 weeks in Palawan and definitely had the time of our live! I am sure, you will too!

Honda Bay (Port Barton)
You can easily explore Honda Bay with a day tour from Puerto Princesa (main airport in Palawan).
The day trip will not only take you snorkeling but also show you some of the most instagrammable places in Palawan.
There is a small island (more like a sandbank) that forms a ring and an inner lagoon. And if you thought the water was already warm in the ocean – dip your feet into this lagoon!
Puerto Princesa Underground River
The underground river near Puerto Princesa was declared a natural heritage site by UNESCO – one out of three in the Philippines!
While it is difficult to snap a gorgeous photo inside the subterranean river – the bay where the tour starts is absolutely gorgeous and 100% instagrammable!
German Island (Port Barton)
German Island is a tiny island off the shore of Port Barton. Port Barton has been my favorite place during our three weeks journey through Palawan in June 2018. And German island has been my favorite place in Port Barton – essentially making this the place I would absolutely recommend you to visit!
The water is clear to a level that you wouldn’t believe it. And the sand is white and pure. Oh, and talking about Instagrammability – there is a swing on the beach!
Corong-Corong Beach (El Nido)
It’s not the beach itself that makes Corong Corong Beach so highly instagrammable. In fact, the water isn’t really clean and the sand is better on many other beaches in Palawan. However, this is the perfect sunset spot. I have rarely seen a more insta-worthy sunset than from Corong Corong.
So my tip: Do get a hotel here, spend the day doing the infamous Tour A,B,C,D (and Z) and then enjoy the sunset from Corong Corong beach!
MatinLoc Shrine (El Nido)
Martinloc Shrine is a former catholic shrine and can be visited with Tour C in El Nido. However, you can also get here when going on an expedition with Tao Philippines (that’s what we did).
On the island, there is a small path leading to a viewpoint. And from there, you can snap awesome insta-worthy shots. Don’t worry, it looks dangerous on this pic but it surely isn’t!
Big + Small Lagoon (El Nido)
Big and small Lagoon are also in El Nido, Palawan and can be visited by a boat tour. It’s hard to get a good shot here as there tend to be too many people. You can opt for a private boat charter and ask your captain to take you to the locations at a different timing than the other tour operators but it still won’t be deserted.
In Big Lagoon, you can rent a canoe to paddle into the lagoon which almost everyone does. El Nido may have its downsides – but it is undoubtably one of the most instagrammable places in Palawan!
Hidden Beach (El Nido)
Again, hidden beach is one of the spots visited on the boat tours from El Nido. There is a cool small swim-through next to the “main entrance”. Hidden beach has been my favorite spot on the whole El Nido boat tour actually – and it is definitely highly instagrammable.
Camp Ngey-Ngey (Brother island)
This island is a private island. It was once owned by a rich Swiss couple but then was taken back by the government. You can now stay on this jewel of an island if you go on an expedition with Tao Philippines or opt for their island stay.

Most instagrammable places near Coron
Yes, Coron is part of Palawan, even though it is a separate island. But because it so quite far from the “mainland” Palawan, I also seperated the most instagrammable places in Palawan here from the others on the “mainland”. They are in the map above as well though!
Oh, and did I mention that the best way to get to Coron from “mainland” Palawan (aka El Nido) is with an expedition by Tao Philippines? 🙂
Malcapuya Island
You can only reach Malcapuya Island by a boat tour from Coron, Palawan. And you should definitely opt for this tour as Coron Town itself has no beach at all.
Normally, you will also visit Banana Island with these tours – so you’ll get two of the most instagrammable places in the Philippines in one trip! 🙂
Malcapuya Island had one of the whitest sands I have ever seen on a beach. Now combine that with luke-warm, pristine, turquoise water, some coconut palms and trees and there you have it: the picture-perfect island. Welcome to Malcapuya Island – definitely one of the most instagrammable places in Palawan!

Banana Island
Same as Malcapuya Island, Banana Island can only be reached by a boat tour from Coron and is usually combined with a trip to Malcapuya Island.
What I really loved about Banana Island was that there was an abundance of hammocks, free of charge. They are not only highly insta-worthy – but also awesome to chill and relax in!
Twin Lagoon
Well, Twin Lagoon is essentially two lagoons with two entrances for boats and a very narrow stone cliff in-between.
There is a staircase on both sides so as a swimmer, you can have them both, no matter what side your boat lands. And guess what, this staircase is a total Instagram darling! Another favorite photo pose here is jumping from the little stone you can see in the back. Be carefully though – the water is not super deep there!
Kayangan Lake
The funny thing about Kayangan Lake as an instagrammable spot is that most of the pictures of “Kayangan Lake” are not Kayangan Lake at all!
Instead, they are from a viewing point on the path leading the Kayangan Lake and are actually showing the (stunning) bay and the ocean.
However, Kayangan Lake itself is also pretty instagrammable – so you’ll even get two totally different and absolutely insta-worthy shots here. 🙂
