Hi Katie, sorry for my late reply – I somehow missed your comment! I honestly don’t know why the locals think so – but to me the island looked perfectly normal 😉 The best time to visit the Philippines is during dry season (~Nov-May) – but we were lucky in May/June as well 🙂
